SBD presents
THE SOAPGIRLS
Saturday August 16th
THE FOURTH’S TIME THE CHARM! Back by incessant demand The SoapGirls bring unique, raw, catchy, anarchistic rock and roll to The Black Prince.
The SoapGirls are not just a band — they are a movement. Formed by sisters Noemie and Camille Debray, this genre-defying alternative rock duo has been inseparable both personally and creatively since early childhood. Their story is one of raw talent, relentless perseverance, and an unshakable sisterhood that has powered them from street performers in South Africa to internationally acclaimed headline acts on major stages around the world.
What began as a childhood endeavor to raise funds for various neonatal awards/hospitals by singing and selling soap at the local wharf (Hence their name) the sisters quickly evolved into something extraordinary, encouraging and inspiring others to make a difference. Their natural charisma and musical intuition caught the attention of audiences and industry professionals alike, culminating in a global recording contract with Universal Music by the time they were teenagers — a milestone that laid the foundation for a lifelong career built on integrity, authenticity, and vision.
Over the years, The SoapGirls have forged a fierce DIY path through the rock landscape, building an empire from the ground up. With multiple internationally released albums and relentless touring schedules, they have captivated audiences across the UK, Europe, Japan, and now the United States. Their live shows are legendary — gritty, theatrical, and emotionally fearless — reflecting not just their musical precision but their commitment to creating a safe, unapologetically bold space for misfits and outsiders to belong.
The SoapGirls are a mainstay in the alternative press, with hundreds of features and reviews in major publications including Classic Rock Magazine, Guitar World, Vive Le Rock, Bass Player, Louder Than War, and Punk Globe. Their music has been broadcast on prominent radio stations including BBC Radio, Planet Rock, and RTE, while their television appearances in both the UK and South Africa have further elevated their profile as genre-bending cultural disruptors. To date, their media exposure has reached a global audience of over 185 million people.
Their reputation as touring artists is equally formidable. The SoapGirls have headlined iconic venues such as Camden Assembly in London, Womb in Tokyo, Melkweg in Amsterdam, Corporation in Sheffield, and First Avenue in Minneapolis. In 2025, they will headline the massive Motoblot Festival in Chicago — one of the most influential alternative rock and lifestyle festivals in the United States.
But what sets The SoapGirls apart isn’t just their skill or stagecraft — it’s their story. They are a rare example of lifelong musical unity. From pre-teens creating their own songs in South Africa to international ambassadors of female empowerment in rock, they have remained committed to their artistry and to each other for over 15 years. Their message is consistent and universal: be who you are, loudly and without shame.
In a world of fleeting trends and manufactured acts, The SoapGirls stand as a testament to what can be achieved through courage, conviction, and an unbreakable creative bond. They are not just deserving of recognition — they embody it. The SoapGirls remind us that music can still be straight to the point, efficient, honest and exciting.
